Dr. Robbins as a Teacher
Much of Dr. Robbins' career has been spent in the education of other dentists. He directed residency programs in the Veteran's Administration, the United States Air Force, and at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA). He is currently Clinical Professor at UTHSCSA and teaches in the graduate General Dentistry programs.
Dr. Robbins has published over 80 articles, abstracts, and chapters on a wide range of dental subjects and has lectured in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe, Middle East and Africa. He coauthored a textbook, Fundamentals of Operative Dentistry - A Contemporary Approach, which is published by Quintessence, and has recently been published in its second edition. The textbook is used by many dental schools in the United States and abroad. His current research interests include dental materials and esthetic restorative therapies.
Dr. Robbins teaches continuing education courses both nationally and internationally. He presents lectures on comprehensive esthetic diagnosis, facial analysis and smile design, perio-restorative interface, treatment of the gummy smile, ovate pontic site development, forced eruption, anterior bonded restorations, posterior bonded restorations, restoration of endodontically treated teeth, and dental photography.
He is a diplomate of the Federal Services Board of General Dentistry and the American Board of General Dentistry and is a past president of the American Board of General Dentistry. Dr. Robbins has won several awards, including the Presidential Teaching Award at the University of Texas Dental School and the 2002 Texas Dentist of the Year Award from the Texas Academy of General Dentistry. He is a member of several organizations including the American College of Dentists, the International Association for Dental Research, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the Southwest Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the Academy of Operative Dentistry. |
